qawb

Antique Blue Turquoise Milk Glass Urn w Top At Memory Lane, I present to you this small 5.5 inch urn, decorated with a hand painted enamel design with gold gilt interlaced for effect. This is a Victorian very opaque blue turquoise decanter w top. It has a hand painted enamel floral design – accented w gold.

Height w Lid on: 5 1/2" +/-
Height w/o the Lid: 4 3/8" +/-

Where Made: I believe this is not American. I am inclined to think it is European. I have handled a lot of American Milk Glass and this just does not seem to feel like American. It could be Bristol (UK), but I cannot verify that.

Click for more detail...

qaea

Antique Milk Glass Jenny Lind Vanity Decanter AtMemoryLane. At Memory Lane, I have this oval milk glass vanity, dresser, or bureau bottle. It is commonly known as the Jenny Lind bottle, but has also been identified as the President Harrison’s Wife bottle, the actress head bottle, or the lady’s bust bottle. Either way, here it is for you to call it whatever you would like. It is covered with a type of pink goofus over the entire surface. The cold applied gold paint is only applied to the bottle; there is none – nor has there ever been any – on the stopper. Please note that the stopper is damaged.

Material: Antique Milk Glass
Color: White, aka Opal or Opaline
Total Length/Height – with the stopper: 11" +/-
Bottle Length Alone: 8" +/-
Bottle Width – at its widest point: 5" +/-
Bottle Width – front to back: 3 ¾" +/-
Creation Date: 1885 - 1910 +/-
Maker: unk
Bottom Marks: None. The bottle has a slag swirl on the bottom.
Bottle Glass Condition: Excellent. I did not notice any cracks, chips, fractures (to include hairline fractures) of any type.

- Stopper Glass Condition: Good Antique Condition. It is "busted off" at the end and is damaged, but the stopper has not been repaired and it sits on the bottle as it was intended to do.
Goofus Condition on Both Pieces: Poor. It is wearing off. The fact that it is there after all this time is remarkable, in itself.
Cold Applied Gold Paint on the Bottle (There was no gold ever applied to the stopper.): Poor. It is also wearing off – but not to the degree that the goofus is since the goofus offered a small bit of protection to the gold. Once again, I am astonished that it is still present, at all. -

Click for more detail...

pefa

Antique Gillinder Lavender Milk Glass Decanter At Memory Lane, I present to you this very rare lavender milk glass bottle. This Gillinder opaque purple colored EAPG vanity, dresser, or barber bottle by Gillinder and Sons includes the original stopper.

The measurements are approximate.

Material: Antique Milk Glass
Color: Lavender, Opaque Purple, or Lilac
Decanter Height/Length: 6"
Belly Width: 5 ¼"
Base Width: 2 5/8"
Rim Width: 1 ¾"
Stopper Length: 3 7/8"
Decanter and Stopper Combined Length: 8"
Maker: Gillinder and Sons
When created: 1903 - 1907 +/-
Bottom Marks: a Backwards Number "2"
Glass Condition on Both Pieces: Excellent. There are no fractures, chips, cracks, hairline fractures, or repairs. It is as it was formed. There is a slag line near the top where the molten glass appears to have had a hiccup, but it does not affect the bottle. You can just see the line when the stop had been made. It probably occurred when they had to slow down before continuing with the lip of the decanter.
Paint Condition on Bottle: Not Applicable as it does not appear that there ever was any paint applied.
Paint Condition on Stopper: Poor. Most of it has worn off.

The price is for this one bottle and the original stopper.

oj7c

Antique Milk Glass McKee Vanity or Barber Decanter At Memory Lane, I have this little piece of history to share with you.

This is a white milk glass antique bottle that was probably used during the Victorian era and placed on a dresser table. The decanter is often referred as a dresser decanter, Holland Carafe, Water Carafe, Toiletry Bottle, Barber Bottle, Cologne Bottle, or Vanity Bottle. McKee and it’s advertisers referred to it as a Holland Water Carafe. This old piece is covered with ornate decorative swirls all over it. The gold paint was cold applied and is referred to as gold gilding. This Early American Pattern Glass would look lovely on any table. It is made of blown glass. The stopper is original to the bottle and has the same design as the bottle. The white color is opaque and satiny in nature.
Material: Milk Glass
Color: white
Belly Circumference: 19" +/-
Length/Height – bottle w stopper: 10 ½" +/-
Base width: 3" +/-
Creation Date: 1899 +/-
Maker: McKee
Markings on Bottom of Glass: None
Condition: Very Good. There are no fractures, chips, cracks, or repairs on the bottle or the accompanying stopper. It is as it was formed. Much of the cold applied gold paint, the gilding, has rubbed off.
