Antique Blue Turquoise Milk Glass Cherub Plate At Memory Lane, I would like to present this blue turquoise milk glass plate for your consideration.

This is a Victorian era blue milk glass plate with a lace border, probably made by Dithridge Company and in the 1880s. It has an old piece of blue ribbon attached to it. These plates were often referred to as ribbon plates because ribbon was often used to attach the plate to the wall for display. This particular plate is known as the cherub or angel head plate because of the depiction of a cherub on the lacy edge border.

Material: Blue Milk Glass
Width: 9" [actually measures 9 3/16")
When Created: 1880s
Glass Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks, or repairs of any kind. Very, very minor scratch on front of plate.

Description Notes:
1. Definite two tone effect on back and front where the two pieces were attached.
2. The back has more slag swirls than the front. In fact, the swirls that you see going across the back of the plate are NOT scratches – they are a lighter color of blue glass – i.e. slag.
3. The number 209 is on the back of the plate.
4. Opalescent effect on the end of the rim.

Antique Milk Glass Westmoreland Three Owls Plate AtMemoryLane. At Memory Lane, I offer to you this decorative wall plate that is marked on the bottom with the patent date of 1901. It is an opaline EAPG/Greentown novelty dish with a looped border and with cold applied gold on the rim and the owls.

It does not have the Westmoreland mark on it, as Westmoreland did not start using their marks until later. This is their original plate, not a reproduction of this plate. The reproductions, which are quite nice and were also produced by Westmoreland, have no cold applied paint on them and are marked with a Westmoreland mark. I also believe they do not have the "PAT'D" mark on them. Buyer, please know what you are purchasing. If you are looking for the early plate, this is it. If you are looking for the later plate, this is not it.

Material: Antique Milk Glass
Color: White, aka Opal or Opaline
Width: 7 ¼"
Creation Date: 1901 +/-
Maker: Westmoreland Specialty Co
Bottom Marks: "PAT’D JULY 2, 1901"

Glass Condition: Very Good. There is ONE CHIP. It is not noticeable on the front, as it is on the back lip. There are NO chips on the front; that includes no chips on the owl noses.

Cold Applied Gold Paint. Poor. As you can see, some of it has worn off.

It was listed in the Crocker and Glass Journal on Aug 16, 1900, but it must have been made between 73 and 90 because it also states that it was made at the Ft Pitt Glass Works.
